Cardano (ADA) is an Ouroboros currency. This is a Proof-of-Stake currency with an estimated energy consumption of about 20800 kilowatthours (kWh) per year for the whole entire network. Negligible compared to chains like Bitcoin (BTC) which uses some 22 terawatt-hours (TWh) per year. Cardano (ADA) is not a privacy preserving currency but has a very large user base we wish to help grow and contribute to.
Ada's stakepool implementation is implemented in Rust, a blazingly fast and memory-efficient programming language with no runtime or garbage collector.
Users take part in securing Ada by delegating their Ada to a stakepool, they earn Ada rewards in this process.
The stakepool uses a rich type system and memory ownership model guaranteeing memory-safety and thread-safety, eliminating many classes of bugs at compile-time.
